Your stories matter.

For many years, I read books to elementary school kids. I taught them other things too, but it was the books we enjoyed and remembered the most.

I saw firsthand how stories affected kids. They also had a big impact on my own childhood, and I still love escaping into the realm of kid-lit.

After many years of teaching and moonlighting as an editor, I left the traditional classroom to pursue my writing and official training in editing. The completely online format of UCLA’s certificate in editing and publishing made this possible, as have the many courses and conferences offered through the professional organizations I’m a member of such as the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), ACES: the Society for Editing, and the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

It makes my heart so happy to help writers fully uncover the stories they envision and get them on the page.

I’m an INFP-T (known as The Mediator)

This means I’m a keen observer and astute listener. It also means I’m flexible and creative, constantly brainstorming problems to solutions.

On the Enneagram, I’m a Type Nine.

This means I get along well with all other personality types.

Sometimes I pretend I’m a digital nomad and do my editing from afar. (You can read about my travels across Europe by train.)

When I’m not galavanting around another continent, I’m hanging out with the lovely members of the local kid-lit critique group I run.

Or spending too much time on Instagram. (Come talk books with me @tiffinysbookshelf.)
